2022 FLORIDA CUP

2023 FLORIDA CUP SUMMARY

Team League Play

Team league play consists of 6 players from each team competing at the same time on 3 courts, as follows:

  • 1 court of Women’s Doubles
  • 1 court of Men’s Doubles
  • 1 court of Mixed Doubles

Teams registering for the Florida Cup register as part of a complete team. Players who are in areas where there is a USTP local league must check with their local league coordinator about joining the local league in order to participate in the Florida Cup. Players in areas where there is not yet a USTP local league may be allowed to participate in the Florida Cup, as determined by the Cup Director. Each team participating in the Florida Cup must have one captain who the Cup Director can communicate with about the tournament. The team captain speaks for the team. While a team may have more than one captain (a co-captain for example), there shall be 1 person who is designated as team captain.

DATES

The Florida Cup is a 1 day event with start times based on your team's division.

  • Divisions 3.0 and 4.0 – March 18, 2023 at 8:00 AM
  • Divisions 3.5 and 4.5 – March 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM
  • Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day and will continue until completed. Depending on the number of teams in each division, one of the divisions may have a later start time.

DIVISIONS

There are four divisions. The Cup Director may move teams if they are in the incorrect division. For areas with local leagues, the local league coordinator determines what team travels there for each division. For areas without a local league, it is expected that the team will place itself in the proper division. If more than one team from an area without a local league wishes to play in the Florida Cup, the Cup Director may require them to play a playoff at the local level to determine the team that will represent the team in the Florida Cup.

  • 3.0 Division. If 2.5 teams wish to play, they may sign up under this Division and let the Cup Director know that they are 2.5. Unless there are sufficient teams to have their own division, the teams in this division will be merged for play and then evaluated separately for results.
  • 3.5 Division. A team may have some players who were 3.5 but are now 4.0 on their team. This occurs when a team has played in a local 3.5 division that qualified to go to the Florida Cup but the player is now a 4.0 player. In any event, the majority of the team must be 3.5.
  • 4.0 Division. A team may have some players who were 4.0 but are now 4.5 on their team. This occurs when a team has played in a local 4.0 division that qualified to go to the Florida Cup but the player is now a 4.5 player. In any event, the majority of the team must be 4.0.
  • 4.5 Division. There are no restrictions on players in this division. If a team is composed of mostly 5.0 players, the Cup Director may create a 5.0 Division. The teams would be merged for play and then evaluated separately for results.

MEET STRUCTURE

All play will be round robin. Whether it is 1 grouping or more than 1 grouping will depend on the number of teams registered for each division. It is expected that your team will play a minimum of 6 games on each court (3 rounds of 2 games each).

Each game will be to 11, win by 1. Each round is 3 courts of play – 6 players for each team playing at the same time.

FACILITIES

The Florida Cup will be played at the Pictona Pickleball Facility located at 1060 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hills, Florida. All players attending the facility must comply with facility requirements.

We recommend having flexible travel plans (including refundable tickets and lodging) that can be refunded or cancelled.
